The Seasons Of Life

If you were to look at your life right at this moment, would you be able to identify what season of life you’re in?

Seasons that everyone goes through

So let’s think about it, life is a cycle. There is a start and an end. Chances are, these are the cycles you are familiar with (very broadly):

  1. Born as an infant
  2. Getting an education (preschool, primary school, high school, college, university, etc).
  3. Getting a stable job
  4. Starting a family
  5. Work for x amounts of years, then retire comfortably.

We are all wired to live this way. Society enforces it, our parents do, the government, the list goes on.

What if there was more?

What if there was more to life than just that? People generally don’t give much thought about it. It’s no wonder so many of us fail to find fulfillment and purpose in the things that we do. I am a firm believer that we are all called to be/to do something great. Would you agree with me on this?

No one was born to be mediocre. We are all different in our own ways – with our own strengths and weaknesses, physique, intelligence, emotions. That’s what makes us special, and that’s what makes us great.

But before we can “find” this inner hero of ours, we must understand our purpose and break it down into purposeful life seasons. Have you ever had an inkling stirring inside of you? Something inside screaming you are far greater than this, and you deserve more. You only get one life to live, why not make the most out of it?

A reason for every season

As the saying goes – “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail”. We need a direction in where we are going in life. You’ll be surprised how many people go through steps 1-5 as mentioned above just because that’s the way they were raised or told to do. It’s almost like we are robots.

Don’t be discouraged if you don’t know what you like, or unsure on your direction. You must try new things, explore new opportunities, get out of your comfort zone. The worst thing you can do to yourself is not trying. Speaking from personal experience those new things that you try will become things that you love or may possibly become your passion.

You don’t want to be the person in 30 years time looking back saying “I wish I have tried it”. ( And to be honest with you I never saw myself writing, let alone starting a blog even a year ago. If you told me that I would be writing last year I would’ve laughed at you, no joke).

No matter which part of life you’re in right now, you’re in a season with a purpose. Don’t get me wrong, there can be many painful seasons too. Seasons of rejections, hardships, hurt, etc. I do believe that everything happens for a reason, even when they are the worst of the worst.

You’ll never know that those experiences you go through will eventually make you stronger, more knowledgeable, more wise, and eventually being able to help others who will go through the same thing. This works for good things as well. Once you identify these seasons you will find that the things you do automatically become more fulfilling.

Where do we go from here?

What do we do now?

First, we must take a step back. Take a look at your current situation, do you have any goals in place? Any dreams? Any visions? Anything you are trying to pursue? If you are, then good on you! Keep going at it.
If you don’t, then perhaps this is the season for you to discover what you want.

You need to ask yourself if you are happy with what you have, if you are content, if you are doing things that benefit others, if you have made your family proud, etc. If you are unhappy, then I suggest now is the time to change things. Quit living an unhappy life because there are no benefits to it. Start to plan. Visualize. Take action. This could be a season of change for you.

Once the change happens, even though it may be slow, you will start to see things in a different light. The rest will be history.
