How To Start A Blog

Do you have passion for writing? Maybe you write in your free time, or you love to share your knowledge and thoughts on a specific topic?

Or.. are you looking to start a side-hustle/business but never knew how?

This is the perfect opportunity. Without a doubt blogging is one of the lowest start-up cost businesses that can be a real money-making machine.

So brace yourselves, for I’m going to break it down for you as simple as I can. You don’t need technical skills, you don’t need a lot of money, you don’t need to know coding, etc.

It’s a lot easier than you think.

How do you make money blogging?

Probably one of the most asked question for blogging. While majority of people think blogging is just a platform used for “writing content”, thousands of bloggers have made a living from it.

If you just google “blogging income report”, you’ll get to read and see how much bloggers are making per month. You could be looking from anywhere between $50-$150,000+ a month. Bare in mind there are also many bloggers who are absolutely killing the game (6-7-8 figure blogs) who don’t share their income report.

To briefly share, here are some ways you can use to generate income from your blog:

  • Ad revenue
  • Sponsored posts
  • Affiliate marketing
  • Selling courses
  • Selling digital products
  • Consulting
  • Coaching
  • The list goes on..

Is it expensive to start a website/blog?

Absolutely not. As opposed to most traditional businesses, you don’t need a large capital to start blogging. No large investments, no physical office required.

All you need is an internet connection, a laptop, and a small amount of investment.

I have partnered up with SiteGround (my blog host) to give you a sweet 65% off deal.

If you use my link, for only $3.95 a month (startup plan), building your own blog with just a few clicks have never been easier OR cheaper.

What do I need to get started?

Here I’ll break it down for you how to start a blog.

Essentially, there are two main things you need to start blogging.

       1.Domain name

The domain name is simply the name of your website. For example, mine is called “Downtolearn.com”. It is recommended to name your blog something related to the niche you plan to write/share.

For example, if you are passionate about food, then your blog names can be:

  • Ilovetoeat.com
  • Foodforeveryone.com
  • Pizzaandpie.com

If you get the startup plan from here, you can add your domain name for roughly $1.25 a month. ($14.95 per year).

You can also buy your domain name from 3rd party services such as GoDaddy, CrazyDomains, etc and simply host with SiteGround. Otherwise if you already have a domain name, skip to the next step!

      2. Hosting provider

The next thing you need is a service to host your domain name/website. This is where SiteGround comes in.

Again, if you use my link, here is what you’ll see.

You really only need the startup plan if you’re getting started. You can then upgrade to better plans when you start to acquire more than 25,000 users to your blog.

With SiteGround once you’ve selected this plan, it is a one-click install for WordPress and you’re pretty much ready to go!

There are many reasons why SiteGround is the best among other hosting providers. Instead of writing too much, you can visit here to read why SiteGround is the best hosting choice for you!

And… that’s it!

Easier than you thought right? You’re basically ready to start blogging and making an extra source of income!

Once you’ve completed the steps above, here are some things that can help you get going:

  1. Install WordPress (1 click install with SiteGround)
  2. Select a theme from WordPress (thousands of themes to pick from. You can even search for “blog” themes!)
  3. Start writing!

Remember.. if you don’t do it now, then when will you?

“The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.”.

If there are any questions at all, I’m here to help. Happy blogging!
